The main activity, which started in April 2004, is a biweekly research seminar open to young labour market researchers (PhD students and post-docs) affiliated with any of the institutions mentioned above. The research projects presented can be of either empirical or theoretical nature. Presentations are usually given in English - German presentations are also possible. The research seminar will take place every second Wednesday, from 18.30 to 20.00. The venue is altering between the DIW Berlin, the Humboldt University and the WZB. Current Research projects by members of the network are, for example:

  • the empirical evaluation of government policies in the labour market and in the educational industry,
  • the analysis of new institutional arrangements such as temporary help agencies,
  • work incentives of tax and family policy reforms,
  • the analysis of transitions from welfare to work,
  • transitions between different types of labour market states, and from welfare to work,
  • social security coverage of non-standard employment relationships,
  • changing demand for qualification in the labour market,
  • the theoretical analysis of search and matching processes,
  • individual employment trajectories in the household context,
  • the role of temporary employment in women’s working lives.
  • intergenerational mobility.
