Stipends

The program does not charge tuition fees at present. A reasonable assessment of living costs in Berlin amounts to roughly 800 Euro monthly - although many students survive on less. The universities charge an enrollment fee of app. 250 Euro per semester. This gives you access to public transport in Berlin at no additional cost.

We are able to give scholarships to outstanding participants. You can apply for a stipend when applying for admission to the program. Admission to the program is independent from granting scholarships.

For the intake in 2010 we are able to offer 10 scholarships and research positions.

The financial assistance ranges between 800-1200 depending on whether your highest previous degree is a bachelor or master and on the family situation.

Stipends and research positions offered through the BDPEMS come from several sources. We try to match the stipends with the research interest of the applicants to ensure a smooth transition to a permanent research position at a later stage. However, any prolongation of initial funding depends on academic achievements.

You cannot receive a scholarship from the program if you already receive a stipend from third party or if you take up employment (e.g. on a research position).
